Makua Beach

The wind report for that side of the island said calm for today but our big umbrella still flew across the beach a few times and, of course, headed straight for the ocean. Brandon and I both made a mad dash for it whenever it took off and were able to catch it but headed back to our spot on the beach without looking to see who was laughing at us as we did (well, I didn’t look anyway).  One of the times it got away it hit me in the head. I was looking at some pictures I had just taken when Brandon starts yelling, “Grab it! Grab it!” As I looked up it flew into my head and then down the beach. I yelled my apologies as Brandon ran after it. It was a nice time though and we’re glad to have found this warm and beautiful place. We even stopped by Baskin Robbins for some ice cream on our way home…mmmm.

It’s been great to have time everyday as a family and to see my high school bff who now lives here with her husband and son. It has been really, really great. To top it all off, we even have a neighbor who happens to be an opera singer (or so I assume). We hear her singing at the top of her lungs some afternoons. Oh, I think I hear her now. Who could ask for more?

Aloha! Hawaii With Our Girls

We’ve arrived in Kailua, Hawai’i safe and sound and are nearly done setting-up our life in what’s to be our home for the next month. I say nearly because Brandon has braved the rush of the Honolulu Walmart to find a bike seat, helmet, and a snugglie but, since they’ve yet to be installed, we have no transportation at the moment. We plan to see this island by bike. The girls did an amazing job yesterday with all the travel and their behavior was nothing short of miraculous. Asha just wants to be at the beach, of course. We ended yesterday with Brandon bringing “home” his first surfboard. Get ready, Lanikai Beach. Here comes Brandon Schaeffer. As for today, I’ve fallen in love with Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut clusters. Macadamia nuts. Chocolate. Caramel. Yes, we were meant to be. What a perfect way to end this blog post (that and I don’t have much to say since it’s only been one day).

(Oh, and we have a lovely view from our lanai)

Love your action sets that you use on your pics. Mind if I ask what actions you are using?
Thanks!

Not sure what you mean by action sets?
